What is a Podcast?   A 'Podcast' is alot like a radio show hosted on the Internet that you can listen to on demand. You can subscribe to a 'Podcast' and receive new 'episodes' to your PC automatically. These episodes can then be listened to on your PC or downloaded to your iPod or MP3 player to listen to whenever you wish.
Do I need extra software to be able to subscribe to Podcasts?   To subscribe to a Podcast you must first have software to 'read' the subscription 'feed'. A couple of FREE popular packages include iTunes, Yahoo, and Juice, but there are many more.
OK, I have the software, now how do I subscribe to Crossroads' Podcasts?   How you do this will vary depending on which software you have chosen. Here is a rough guide to how this might work:
If you have iTunes
You can subscribe to the sermon podcast through the iTunes Podcast Directory or by clicking the link
below labeled 'iTunes'.
If you have Yahoo Jukebox, Juice or other podcast software
If you have Yahoo Jukebox, Juice, or another podcast receiving software then this is the method you should
use. This is also the method to use if you can't find the podcast in iTunes.
You need to add the "feed" of the podcast to your software in order to subscribe. The feed is really just the
address of the podcast, which the software will go to each time it wants to check for a new episode.
You can find the feed for the Crossroads sermon podcast by clicking on the orange 'XML' link below. The
feed address will then appear in the address bar of your internet browser.
You will need to copy this feed address and paste it into your podcast software. How you do this will
depend on your software, but you should look out for buttons or links that say "Add" or "Subscribe".
Now what?
When a new episode (sermon) becomes available for the podcast, your software will automatically download it. For the sermons (MP3 format), you can then listen to them on your computer or transfer it to your portable player to listen to later. For the bulletins (Adobe .pdf format), you can download these to follow the scripture referenced in the sermon, follow the sermon outline, or ponder the questions 'For personal reflection'.
You may want to check the settings of your podcast software for details including how often it will check for new episodes, whether it will keep old episodes for you etc. This will vary depending on the software you have chosen, and your personal preferences.
We try to make the files available no later than the Monday after the sermon. But, in some cases this may take a little longer.
If you decide that you no longer want to receive the sermon podcast then it should be very easy to unsubscribe. Again, how you do this will depend on your software, but you should look for "Clear" or "Unsubscribe" options.
Enjoy the podcasts!
